Strike Ballot Begins

Thu 02 Sep 12:36

Munich. Will there be a strike by the MVV during the Wiesn? The ballot vote of the German Civil Service (DBB) for wage negotiations in the communal local traffic unit has begun.

Up to the 6th of September, bus, tram and U-Bahn drivers can vote in polling stations if they are for or against a strike. The DBB anticipates that work will be stopped - possibly even for the Wiesn. In the tariff dispute the labour union Verdi and the communal employer's association agreed on a deal. Both sides agreed at a 3.5 percent increased salary for some 6,500 employees, but the DBB will not go along with the deal and declared the wage negotiations as failed. The Civil Service demands 5 percent more salary and work-hour crediting for idle time between shifts.
