It's just not cricket. Oh yes it is in Munich.
Munich Cricket Club (MCC) will be celebrating its 30th anniversary on Saturday 21st July with a friendly game (1230 start) against its former captains.
The club was founded in 1982 and is one of the oldest cricket clubs in Germany.
Initial games were actually played on the vast open areas of the English Garden. A local rule back then meant that a batsman could not be given out if he had been distracted by one of the local 'maidens' who often 'inconveniently' disrobed behind the bowler's arm. Of course, nude sunbathing was and still is quite a popular pastime in Munich.
Apart from organising the first competition - the MCC Knockout Cup - and running the local league for the first few years, the club is a founder member of the Bavarian Cricket League and the German Cricket Association (DCB). It also played a formative role in the initial movements to set up the European Cricket Federation, which subsequently became the European Cricket Council, and operates under the auspices of the ICC Development Program.
Home games are played at the 'Hirschanger', arguably one of the most picturesque grounds in Germany, just a lofted off drive from the famous Chinese Tower beergarden. The ground is located in the south east corner of the English Garden, it's a ten minute walk north from Lehel U-Bahn station. Nearest tram stop is Paradiesstrasse opposite the ground - tram 17 direction Effnerplatz. More details can be found on the club website.

A split away against the powerful Regensburg Legionaires baseball club over the weekend by the Haar Disciples is starting to make believers of Haar and their chances of going far this season, especially after last season ended in turmoil.
In German baseball's 1. Bundesliga-South league, Haar were beaten 6-3 in a night game under the floodlights of the Regensburg stadium on Saturday. In baseball lore the well-known nickname for a baseball park is the "Field of Dreams", but in Haar, they might start coining another term: "Fields of Dreams."
If anyone was asking before the season why the Disciples signed on US pitcher Brian Fields, they got a near-perfect answer on Saturday. In Haar's 1. Bundesliga-South game against the visiting Mannheim Tornados, the former Paderborn Untouchables hurler threw a no-hit game en route to a 2-0 win. Except for one walk he gave up, Fields would have had a perfect game.
Of the 27 outs in the 9-inning outing, Fields struck out 18 Tornados batters....

The Munich Cowboys good started was spoiled by penalties and missed chances as they fell to a 27-20 defeat against the visiting Rhein-Neckar Bandits, leaving their season record at 2-2.
With Bayern Munich's domestic cup final taking up the evening slot for sporting entertainment, the Munich Cowboys home venture against the visiting Rhein-Neckar Bandits looked an easy option for the afternoon. Rosberg claims Monaco crown
Nico Rosberg has joined an elite club by winning the illustrious Monaco Grand Prix. It's the second race-win of his career, but it doesn't come as a surprise considering that Rosberg is a Monaco resident and is thus familiar with the track and the surroundings. In an outcome which helped only one club - the league-leading Munich Caribes - the Gauting Indians and Ellwangen Elks played to a split on Saturday. In two tense contests, the hosts Gauting won the first one 2-0, but fell short as the visiting Elk narrowly held on to a 6-5 win in the second game.

The Haar Disciples suffered their first defeat in the new Bundesliga-South season with a split against the Heidenheim Heideköpfe over the weekend.
